LIKE TO VOLUNTEER?
There are many ways Wildlife Rescue South Coast volunteers contribute to our efforts. Not everyone has to do hands-on rescue work. Volunteer roles include:
Rescue of native animals needing care
Rearing of young birds and mammals
Treatment, care and rehabilitation of wildlife
Transporting injured wildlife
Answering the rescue hotline
Training volunteers
Fundraising
Administration
Public education and publicity
Social media
Every one of these roles is critical to the successful functioning of the group and can be rewarding and enjoyable for volunteers.
Some of our volunteers assist by becoming a ‘buddy’. This allows members who may not be able to commit to other roles, to get ‘carer’s experience’ by lending a hand to other carers who may be very busy. This is quick way to learn the key skills such as how to handle various species. Species coordinators can assign volunteers to assist experienced carers who may appreciate a helping hand from time to time.
