Oak Grove Garden

LOCATION: Candelo (Address TBA)
ABOUT THE GARDEN
The garden at Oak Grove Farm is best described as a rambling farm garden with elements of formality. Set on land once owned by the historic Kameruka Estate, the exterior borders of the property have old mature stone pines, elms, oaks, white poplar and cypress trees with new inner plantings of london plane trees, pines & chinese elms, as well as many other trees.
The garden is on several levels on a mostly gently sloping hillside incorporating a vegetable garden in the French potager style with espaliered fruit trees enclosing a central pergola, fountain and symmetrical vegetable beds that leads into the orchard with space to sit with a picnic lunch. One of the main features of the garden is a large almost quarter acre garden hedged with cherry laurel that provides protection for herbs & perennials including some unusual less common plants and a large variety of mostly English style bush, floribunda & climbing roses. The garden leads via a Lychgate covered with rose & honey suckle to the large lawn area that surrounds the house with shrub borders including a shaded 'serene garden' section with only white & blue flowering shrubs & plants as well as mature trees.
Much of the garden is 20+ years old but we are always adding or reinvigorating, so have areas only a few years old & even newly renovated areas less than 12 months old, providing a good comparison of garden growth timelines.
